Congratulations William Paterson Class of 2024 Graduate!
Academic attire, or regalia, ordered for William Paterson graduates continues traditions that date back to medieval times. Today academic regalia is worn primarily for Commencement and other academic ceremonies indicating the wearer is an educated person and has earned an academic degree. The hood lining color represents the college or university that conferred the degree, and the velvet edging color represents the specific degree awarded.
To continue our sustainability efforts at William Paterson, the Commencement regalia - named GreenWeaver® - is made of fabric spun from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles molten pellets. For every William Paterson graduate walking at Commencement, an average of 25 plastic bottles will have been used to manufacture the cap and gown.
Since 2012, William Paterson has helped to divert over 443,000 plastic bottles from landfills!
Your regalia and graduation accessories can now be ordered and SHIPPED TO HOME, allowing you to have your regalia ready for the ceremony, take photos to share with family and friends, and as a keepsake of this important milestone.

Senior Class Gift 2024 – Zipper Medallion Pull
Every spring William Paterson senior have the opportunity to make a contribution to the Senior Class Gift in celebration of their graduation. Seniors who make a Senior Class gift of $20.24 will receive a beautiful Zipper Medallion Pull.
Wearing your Zipper Medallion Pull during Commencement will serve as a visual symbol to all attendees of your William Paterson pride and your contribution to the Senior Class Gift which benefits future Pioneers. Together, we can create a legacy of generosity just as the many senior classes before us did. These pulls will look sharp attached to your gown, and later they can fit on your key chain, jacket, gym bag, or suitcase, bringing your love of WPU everywhere you go.
